Catherine McAuley College opened its doors in 2022 to meet the growing demand for a quality Catholic Education in the Mackay region. Starting with pioneering Year 7’s in 2022, the college will grow into a complete Years 7 to 12 profile by 2027. An exciting opportunity exists for a Classroom Support Assistant to join the staff of Catherine McAuley College, Mackay. This term‑time continuing position is for 30 hpw, commencing Term 3, 2026 (13th July 2026) or as negotiated with the successful applicant.
Responsibilities- Providing one‑on‑one or small group support to students, including students with additional needs.
- Monitoring student progress and behaviour and providing feedback to teachers.
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as record‑keeping and organising educational materials.
- Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
- A genuine interest in supporting the learning and development of students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality in dealing with young people and their needs.
- The ability to work well either individually or collaboratively in a team and to accept direction and support.
- Genuine care for the wellbeing of students.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic educational setting.
- Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to this role would be highly regarded.
Experience in a similar role or working with children is desirable but not essential. We value individuals who are committed to continuous growth and are eager to learn and contribute to our educational communities.
