Salary Scale: NJC Scale Point 5 - 6

SEN Allowance: £1539 pa pro rata (dependent upon experience)

We are recruiting teaching assistants for a 36‑hour term‑time role at Cavendish High Academy. Successful candidates will work in partnership with professional colleagues to create a safe, enjoyable learning environment and deliver highly effective teaching and learning experiences that support students’ progress and achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Support teachers and students in the classroom, facilitating learning activities.
  • Assist with students’ personal needs, including toileting, dressing, feeding and mobility.
  • Provide social, welfare, care and health support as required.
  • Work flexibly across the Academy and adapt to the diverse needs of students.
  • Use behaviour support skills and apply strategies to help students with special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and work as an effective team member.
  • Use initiative, pursue lifelong learning and engage in professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: Common sense and sense of humour.
  • Essential: Flexible and adaptive.
  • Essential: Physical and emotional resilience to support students who may present challenging behaviours.
  • Essential: English GCSE Grade A–C or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Makaton or BSL (British Sign Language) training.
  • Desirable: Maths GCSE Grade A–C or equivalent.
