Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate counselor to join our team at Filer Elementary School. The ideal candidate will provide support and guidance to students in their academic, social, and emotional development. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive school environment, promoting student well-being, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and the community to enhance student success.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students addressing academic, social, and emotional issues.
- Develop and implement guidance programs that support student development and well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students in need of support and create intervention plans.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and monitor progress.
- Facilitate workshops and seminars for students, parents, and staff on topics such as conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and emotional health.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Serve as a resource for parents and guardians, providing guidance and support regarding student behavior and academic challenges.
- Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities to enhance counseling services.
- Advocate for the needs of students and promote a positive school culture.
- Stay current with best practices in counseling and education, including relevant laws and regulations.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged children in a counseling or educational setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and educational best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in counseling practices.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and the school community.
