Compensation: $188 per day

Position Summary:
The Long-Term Substitute (Floating) is assigned to a specific school site and reports daily to provide consistent substitute coverage. This position ensures instructional continuity by filling unassigned absences and supporting overall building operations. When no substitute needs are present at the assigned site, the Long-Term Substitute will assist in other capacities as directed by the principal or may be reassigned to another school within the district to meet staffing needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report daily to assigned school (K3 or 45 building) ready to fulfill substitute teaching assignments
Provide classroom coverage for teacher absences that have not been filled through the substitute system
Implement lesson plans and maintain continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
Maintain a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment
Follow all district policies, school procedures, and lesson plans provided
Communicate effectively with school staff and administration regarding coverage and student needs
If no substitute assignments are available:
Support the school in other assigned duties (e.g., small group support, supervision, classroom assistance)
Travel to another district school, if needed, to cover an unfilled absence
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality in all interactions
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred
Must meet Idaho substitute certification requirements
Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to a variety of classroom environments
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable, and a collaborative team player
Basic technology skills sufficient to navigate classroom tools and district systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to quickly build rapport with students and staff
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to follow direction while also taking initiative when needed
Flexibility to adjust assignments, grade levels, and locations on short notice
Commitment to supporting student learning and maintaining a positive school culture
Working Conditions &
Physical Requirements Work is performed in a school environment
Requires standing, walking, and moving throughout classrooms and school buildings
May involve lifting up to 25 pounds (classroom materials, supplies)
Requires the ability to supervise students in various settings (classroom, recess, cafeteria, etc.)
Must be able to travel between district buildings as needed
Additional Expectations Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential
Must be available for full-day assignments on all scheduled school days
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students and staff
Serve as a positive representative of the district at all times
