IRPC Position at Coeur d'Alene Tribal School
The IRPC at the Coeur d'Alene Tribal School supports the day-to-day leadership and instructional management of the school, working under the guidance of the Principal. They focus on ensuring a positive, respectful, and inclusive school climate by assisting with staff supervision, supporting instructional quality, and leading student support and behavior systems grounded in restorative justice. This position also helps facilitate professional development, student safety, and family engagement while upholding the school's mission and the cultural values of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal in monitoring and supporting the implementation of curriculum, instructional planning, and assessment practices.
- Support teacher mentoring and professional learning, with a focus on culturally responsive practices and trauma-informed care.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure instructional consistency and alignment with school goals.
- Serve as the primary lead for student behavior and discipline, implementing school-wide restorative justice practices.
- Provide mediation, conferencing, and reintegration support for students following behavioral incidents.
- Maintain documentation of behavior interventions and collaborate with counselors and families on student support plans.
- Help foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment aligned with tribal values of respect, responsibility, and community.
- Support family engagement initiatives and serve as a point of contact for families regarding student well-being and school events.
- Assist in organizing and supervising extracurricular and after-school programs, ensuring student safety and supervision.
- Support the supervision of school operations and act on behalf of the Principal when delegated or in their absence.
- Assist with attendance tracking, student records, and preparation of reports as needed.
- Coordinate safety procedures including drills and emergency protocols, and ensure staff awareness of policies.
- Participate in school improvement planning and provide input on student and staff needs.
- Maintain positive communication with school staff, tribal partners, and families.
- Assist in orientation and onboarding of new staff and substitute teachers.
- Valid teaching license
- Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience
- At least one year of leadership or administrative experience (e.g., instructional coach, dean, assistant principal)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of restorative justice and/or experience implementing non-punitive behavior interventions
- Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
- Must pass extensive background check prior to employment and every 5th consecutive year of employment thereafter according to the following: §25 CFR 12 Part 32, §25 CFR 63 Part 17, and Public Law 101-647. Must not have any misdemeanor or felony offenses related to abuse, neglect, or endangerment of a child.
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership
- Experience working in a tribal school or a school serving Native American communities
- Familiarity with culturally responsive pedagogy and family engagement in Native communities
