Music Accompaniment Support

Provide musical accompaniment for classes and performances, as well as act as a support to the performing arts program and students. Under supervision of:
Choir and band director.

Essential Duties:

• Assists instructional personnel by playing accompaniment for pupils in vocal classes, vocal groups, in preparation for solo performances, rehearsals and any performances.
• Assists teacher in preparing instructional materials
• Assist with preparation of lesson plans and classroom materials, manage music library
• Assist teacher with classroom management
• Assist as chaperone on music related trips
• May need to travel with students for school related activities (festivals, concerts, and other music related travel)
• Must be able to meet and interact with employees and parents/guardians in routine situations, which require tact, discretion, and courtesy

Job Requirements:

• Competent piano playing skills
• At least five years of piano playing
• Able to play scales
• Sight reading skills
• Capable of different genres of music
• Competent accompanying skills
• Five years of experience as an accompanist
• Will consider less years as an accompanist depending on piano playing skill level

Time Commitment:
Monday Thursday with a total of 19.5 hours per week.

Audition:

• Perform two pieces of contrasting music
• Sight read one piece of music
• Play 5 scales
• Accompany one song
