Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Filer Elementary School as a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs and assist in creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes academic and social growth. This role involves collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure that each student receives the individualized support they need to thrive.

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects and activities.
• Help students develop social skills and promote positive behavior in the classroom.
• Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Support the use of adaptive technology and resources tailored to individual student needs.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Assist with daily living skills, including personal care, as necessary.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Collaborate with special education staff and other professionals to support student learning and well-being.

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of special education practices, IEPs, and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations in a dynamic classroom environment.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to use educational technology.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet any other state or district requirements for employment.
