We are seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to develop new equipment, refine existing designs, and lead projects in a regulated medical device environment. The role focuses on mechanical design, documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of production systems.
Responsibilities- Design and upgrade equipment with emphasis on ergonomics, reliability, and production scale.
- Revise and maintain equipment documentation to improve repeatability and robustness.
- Manage control system updates for revised or new equipment.
- Develop and implement test methods, author Gauge R&R protocols, execute tests, and analyze data to ensure repeatability.
- Analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and apply advanced problem‑solving techniques.
- Solve non‑conforming equipment issues and support production line troubleshooting.
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for equipment design and automation.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, electrical, and software engineers to integrate components and ensure compatibility.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.
- Provide technical training and support to manufacturing personnel for proper operation and maintenance.
- Lead equipment or automation projects, setting timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress.
- Maintain compliance with the PROCEPT Bio Robotics Quality Management System and EHS policies.
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years.
- Experience leading equipment projects in a regulated medical device or capital equipment setting.
- Proficiency in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and solid modeling (Solid Works). Ability to iterate quickly.
- Strong mechanical drafting skills and understanding of design intent and requirements.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and hand tool usage for fixture assembly.
- Experience with project management, including setting timelines and tracking deliverables.
- Capability to develop and write test protocols and detailed engineering reports.
- Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills for troubleshooting assemblies and processes.
- Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Office and Solid Works. Basic coding experience preferred.
- Understanding of manufacturing principles and experience with milling machines, lathes, and bandsaws is a plus.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers and machine design/automation systems is a plus.
