Field/Service Technician, Engineering Design & Technologists
Summary
The Layout Technician is responsible for helping to provide engineering services including coordination, layout, quality control and monitoring utilized in the planning, and construction of our projects.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Prior field experience in commercial construction a plus
- Mathematics coursework and/or understanding of geometry / trigonometry a plus
- Decision making, research and analytical problem‑solving skills
- Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently
- Performs building layout using standard survey equipment, including total stations, levels, prisms, and hand tools; establishes control points and verifies accuracy through backsight setups
- Applies basic field calculations, unit conversions, and plane geometry / trigonometry to support layout, elevations, and coordinate verification
- Maintains and updates project documents, including posting design revisions and documenting as‑built conditions
- Utilizes CAD, modeling tools, point creation and data collection software, and Microsoft Office applications to support field operations and reporting
- Assists with inspections and verification of installed work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and tolerances
- Maintains organized field records, including daily reports, field notes, sketches, logs, and electronic field books; ensures proper documentation of field activities
- Interprets construction drawings and specifications; reviews shop drawings and submittals for coordination and consistency, including embeds, anchor bolts, and miscellaneous metals
- Tracks and maintains inventory of survey equipment and field engineering supplies
- Learn and applies company engineering standards, construction best practices, and safety procedures
- Collaborates with DAVIS teams and trade partners to support efficient construction operations and a strong team culture

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is $24.04 - $33.65.
