Mining Coordinator
As a Mining Coordinator at our Soda Springs, , you are a critical leader in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality recovery of phosphate ore from the pit to the stockpile. This role blends operational mining leadership, safety ownership, and applied phosphate geology, ensuring that ore quality, recovery, and daily execution align with long‑range mine plans and company standards. You own all activities within active mining areas and are responsible for ore identification, resource evaluation, safety oversight, pit control, contractor management, and geological support.
You are empowered to start or stop work based on safety or operational conditions and serve as the key technical link between geology, operations, engineering, and the plant.
- Own all operations in active mining areas, including identification of ore and overburden zones;
- Direct all ore and overburden extraction, optimizing haul routes, sequencing, and material placement;
- Work with equipment operators to identify, clean, and properly handle ore; collect and transport trench samples to the plant lab;
- Provide daily direction and oversight to 25–40 contractors to ensure adherence to mining plans and safe work practices;
- Maintain direct authority to start or stop work to ensure safety and operational integrity;
- Develop detailed daily and weekly mine plans using sampling, stratigraphy, and ore boundary interpretations;
- Perform pit surveying to verify compliance with mine design and update pit maps with current topography;
- Design and execute programs to identify and confirm phosphate deposits within current and future mining areas;
- Estimate ore grades and tonnage and define resource vs. reserve boundaries;
- Champion a zero‑incident culture and model safe behaviors at all times.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of phosphate mining experience and a deep understanding of phosphate geology;
- Strong knowledge of large‑scale mining equipment and mining practices;
- Valid Driver’s License (MVR will be reviewed and must meet company guidelines for hiring drivers);
- Ability to strategically manage ore beds to maximize recovery and ore quality.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate safety issues proactively;
- Experience working with equipment operators for ore identification, cleaning, and sampling;
- Proven success directing mining contractors and ensuring compliance with mine plans;
- Proficiency in pit surveying, topographic updates, and maintaining accurate pit maps.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $73,520.00 and $. Compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
