Siemens Electrification and Automation (EA) offers a diverse portfolio of products including low voltage motor control centers, compact modular reclosers, distribution switches, medium voltage switch gear, medium voltage circuit breakers, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays.

This hybrid Electrical Engineer - GIS Switchgear position is based in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

You will support the design and application of Siemens Medium Voltage (MV) switch gear solutions, translating customer requirements into high‑quality, cost‑effective engineering designs that meet technical, schedule, and quality expectations. You will also analyze customer technical specifications, one‑line diagrams, and schematics to develop MV switch gear solutions, including protection and control systems.

You'll make a difference by:
  • Developing complete engineering documentation for customer approval and MV switch gear manufacturing.
  • Creating accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material using Siemens engineering configurator tool.
  • Owning technical deliverables as a project engineering lead, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution.
  • Supporting manufacturing, service teams, and customers to ensure designs are built and delivered as intended.
  • Collaborating to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Growing knowledge in the power systems engineering field with the support of an experienced team.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • One to Four (or more) years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution systems, with emphasis on MV switch gear.
  • Experience with electrical drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred).
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switch gear.
  • Experience with Air Insulated MV switch gear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
