Job Summary
Under the direction of the Grants Management (GM) Supervisor, the Grant Accountant will prepare financial reports and provide analysis to internal and external customers, including the CFO, management staff, funders, grantors, and government agencies. The role assists with daily activities and special projects of the Grants Management Department.
Responsibilities- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to funders, including invoices and financial statements.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to program management – financial statements, projections, and analysis, and assist with presenting results.
- Create and maintain reports in AI (Accounting Information system) to manage assigned grants.
- Review general ledger transactions for accuracy, and complete adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Respond to program managers’ questions and concerns about assigned grants.
- Review distribution codes and cost allocation affecting grants; propose changes and record adjusting entries.
- Perform grant close‑out functions – reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, monitoring year‑end liquidations, zeroing out budgets, and financial reporting.
- Record monthly revenue and corresponding receivables/payables; monitor accounts through close‑out.
- Assist with preparation of budgets for annual refunding applications and update the AI funder‑approved budgets module.
- Conduct ad hoc research projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
- At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience, specifically in preparing financial statements.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, sorting, linking, SUMIFS, pivot tables) and good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Hourly rate: $34.99.
