About the Role
As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers play a key role in delivering on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller’s primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations.

- Maintain and enhance client relationships through meaningful conversations that uncover client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional bank products and services.
- Perform teller transactions and cash handling functions (deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, balancing cash drawer, etc.) with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Perform daily tasks that maintain branch integrity (double custody balancing of ATM, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing credit card machine, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures, etc.).
- Mitigate risk by ensuring safekeeping of money in cash drawer and prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
- Interact with external and internal clients, anticipate needs, and consistently provide proactive solutions in alignment with the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
- Continuously deepen knowledge of product and service offerings and stay current on changes.
- Discuss and uncover customers' financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services.
- Support referral goals for the branch by focusing on and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- 4 years of previous banking or demonstrated sales and client service experience (preferred).
- Demonstrates basic understanding of consumer & business products.
- May back up certain duties of the Personal Banker and/or Assistant Manager with operational duties and tasks.
- Ability to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions.
- Consistently demonstrates ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and other bank associates.
The pay range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00. The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non‑discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location.
The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation; details will be provided during the recruitment process.
