Shifts: Rotating (Day/Graveyard)

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated Communication Specialists (Dispatchers) to serve as the vital link between the public and emergency responders. In this role, you will be the voice of reassurance during emergencies and the hub of coordination for law enforcement, medical, and fire services.

Responsibilities
  • Answer emergency and non‑emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
  • Dispatch law enforcement, medical, and all emergency services quickly and accurately
  • Maintain detailed call records, radio logs, and reports
  • Support jail communications and assist with clerical tasks
  • Stay calm and organized in high‑pressure, fast‑paced situations
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under stress
  • Computer proficiency and accurate typing (45 WPM minimum)
  • Team player with integrity and professionalism
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass background checks (no felony arrests; no illegal drug use in past 5 years)
  • Typing test required
Training & Certification
  • Attend POST Communications Academy in Meridian, Idaho (≈ 2 weeks) within first year
  • All travel, lodging, and related expenses fully paid by the county
  • Extensive on‑the‑job and in‑house training provided
