Medical Laboratory Director

Bear Lake Memorial Healthcare is seeking a hard-working, dependable, and motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead our laboratory team. The laboratory director is responsible for the overall operation and management of the entire laboratory and must ensure it meets all applicable CLIA regulations.

• Ensure full compliance with all CLIA, federal, and state regulations, accreditation requirements, and BLMH policies, and maintain laboratory licensure and certification.
• Provide direction and consultation for all laboratory services.
• Manage and coordinate all staff scheduling, ensuring the laboratory operates appropriately and efficiently at all times.
• Oversee and perform laboratory Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs.
• Manage all aspects of laboratory staff, handle staffing issues and complete employee evaluations and training.
• Work regular shifts and perform all technician duties as needed in the laboratory.
• Maintain and update policies and procedures for the laboratory, in accordance with BLMH policies.
• Perform quality control on laboratory equipment and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Set up, adjust, clean, and maintain medical laboratory equipment.
• Shared on-call coverage is required for nights and weekends.
• Provide strategic planning for laboratory services and assist with budgeting and capital equipment planning.
• Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and administration.

• Using mathematics and scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
• Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Bachelor of Science Degree with Medical Laboratory Scientist/ASCP certification
• Strong commitment to Quality Assurance.
• Must be reliable, motivated and able to work independently.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to get along well with coworkers, patients, management, etc.
• Adherence to confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to contribute to the culture and/or mission of the most caring hospital.
