Requirements

The CT Technologist will perform a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for multiple diagnoses or interventions. Responsible for performing CT and X‑Ray examinations according to protocol and age‑specific needs including patient preparation.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Must work various shifts and take call on a rotating basis.
  • Performs CT and X‑Ray procedures according to protocol.
  • Consistently provides images of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric age group; follows established imaging and viewing protocols.
  • Operates imaging equipment in diagnostic radiology and CT procedures efficiently and effectively.
  • Completes quality imaging in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing workflow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet patient standards.
  • Interacts with patients to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
  • Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent; screens patients for surgical implants, allergies, etc.
  • Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Performs exams while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
  • Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist; serves as an expert resource for clinical, technical and process‑related questions for other technologists.
  • Reviews and optimizes scheduling to accommodate work‑ins and ensures the proper protocol.
  • Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies; coordinates annual testing and/or equipment inspections.
  • Transfers and properly positions patients for examination in order to obtain desired results according to physician’s specifications or protocols; provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients; demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress.
  • Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be ARRT certified or eligible upon hire.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Computed Tomography (CT) or X‑Ray – preferred.
