Caregivers employed at Antelope Creek Living Center support and provide direct care and behavior intervention to residents as described in each resident's service plan. Caregivers are responsible for activities of daily living and medication assistance. Caregivers also assist with daily housekeeping and meal service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist residents with personal care and grooming, including bathing, hair care, assistance with clothing and dressing, oral care, toileting, basic skin and nail care.
- Assist with bowel and bladder care, which may include helping the resident to and from the bathroom, assisting with incontinence care, and aiding with peri care as needed.
- Assist the resident in taking medication prescribed by a medical doctor in a timely manner. Assist with self‑administration of routine eye care (caregiver must complete the Medication Assistance class before performing this task). As a medication aid you are responsible for properly documenting and updating medication assistance records, as well as informing administration and nursing of any changes or concerns.
- Assist in preparing and serving meals to residents, ensuring special attention is given to those with food allergies or special diets.
- At times you may be asked to accompany a resident to a doctor or medical appointment or assist with shopping and activities.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks, including changing bed linens, rearranging furniture, laundry, sweeping and mopping, vacuuming, making beds, dishes, emptying trash, cleaning refrigerator, small appliances, bathrooms, and kitchen.
- Take, measure, and record vital signs, height, weight, and food/fluid intake and output.
- Observe and report signs of disability, illness, and changes in condition or behavior in the residents. Perform daily charting of tasks completed on progress notes.
- Keep utility areas, shared spaces, and shower rooms in order.
- Deliver supplies, equipment, food, and correspondence to and from other areas on the campus.
- Report environmental hazards and observe infection control measures and oxygen safety to meet safety needs.
- Perform maintenance exercise regimens.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Meet the needs of residents with special conditions, such as mental illness, developmental disabilities, and behavior disorders.
- Complete 16 hours of in‑service per year.
- Assist residents with comfort and anxiety relief.
- Promote resident safety and environmental cleanliness.
- Document tasks performed for residents.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be eighteen (18) years old, have a high school diploma or GED, or demonstrate the ability to perform each essential task satisfactorily.
