Job Summary

Primary duties of the clinic patient access representative include answering telephones and directing questions and messages to the appropriate staff, scheduling and coordinating patient contacts, supporting patient financial services and billing, and collecting accounts.

Essential Job Functions
  • Greets patients, coordinates patient services, schedules appointments, screens and routes patient and non‑patient inquiries and correspondence to the appropriate personnel.
  • Answers phones, takes messages, and correctly creates lab, x‑ray, and other service encounters as needed.
  • Gathers and maintains patient information for medical records and billing, and updates information as required.
  • Verifies insurance coverage, collects co‑pays, and directs patients to the appropriate personnel for billing and collection issues.
  • Coordinates with and supports activities of the clinical nursing staff and clinical providers.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly working environment.
  • Participates in mandatory training on EHR and UKG (Time and Attendance) and demonstrates basic competency in applicable functions.
  • Works with the PFS staff for coordination of patient care and registration activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • One‑two years of healthcare industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks quickly, calmly, and professionally.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to speak and write articulate.
