Patient Access Representative-Physical Therapy

The primary duties of the clinic patient access representative include answering telephones and directing questions and messages to the appropriate staff, scheduling and coordinating patient contacts, operating computer systems that support patient financial services and billing, and handling collection of accounts.

• Greets patients, coordinates patient services to include appropriate and timely scheduling of appointments, screens and routes patient and non‑patient inquiries and correspondence to the appropriate personnel, answers phones, takes messages, and correctly creates lab, x‑ray, and other service encounters as needed.
• Gathers and maintains patient information as required for medical records, billing processes, and updates information as needed.
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co‑pays, and directs patients to the appropriate personnel for billing and collection issues.
• Coordinates with and supports activities of the clinical nursing staff and clinical providers.
• Maintains a clean and orderly working environment.
• Participates in mandatory training on EHR and UKG (Time and Attendance) and demonstrates basic competency in the functions applicable to the role.
• Works with the PFS staff for coordination of patient care and registration activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills required.
• One‑two years of healthcare industry experience preferred.
