QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Idaho or ability toobtain/maintain required licensure. Two years’ experience in infection control,healthcare epidemiology, employee health, nursing, or a related field required.

Knowledge of Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resource Services Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Centers for Disease Control, and Occupational Safety Health Association's policies or guidelines.

This knowledge will enable the Infection Preventionist to ensure infection prevention practices meet the requirements of the above agencies. Knowledge ofpublic health principles, including surveillance and prevention of acquired infections. Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices and procedures. Must complete cross-training and maintain competency in applicable

Nursing Department functions. Knowledge of regulatory agency standards on Infection Prevention issues, including AAAHC Standards, CDC Guidelines, AAMIGuidelines and Nursing Professional recommendations from organizations. Annual training and continued education in infection control required. Knowledge of principles of epidemiology, utilization of scientific methods, and application of basic statistical concepts for research methodology including design, data collection, and analysis required for interpreting current research articles on infection prevention issues.

Knowledge of and skills to apply principles of interpersonal relationships, communication, and group dynamics in working with individuals and groups toward establishing standards and planning for corrective actions. Knowledge of and skill in applying management principles,including management by objectives to affect change and improvement clinical practice. Knowledge of educational and training principles, techniques and practices related to planning, development, implementation and evaluation of infection control in-services, annual infection prevention training, and new employee orientation programs.

Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing,to conduct presentations and prepare written reports. BLS certification required. ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire. APIC Infection Control and Prevention Training Completion required within 6 months of hire.

Proficient in typing and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar platforms. Valid driver’s license required.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Hearing: within normal limits with orwithout use of corrective hearing devices.

Vision: adequate to read 12-point typewith or without use of corrective lenses.

Must be able to verbally interact withstaff, clients, patients, and the public.
