Job Overview
The Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of end-to-end technology solutions that align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards. This role ensures that solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with O'Reilly's strategic goals, driving technology modernization, integration, and optimization across systems.
LocationOn-site position located in Springfield, MO.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver detailed solution architectures that meet functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Create architecture artifacts such as high‑level design and low‑level design documents, integration diagrams, and data flow models.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards, and best practices.
- Guide selection of technologies, frameworks, and tools to support solution delivery.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to translate requirements into solution architectures.
- Provide hands‑on support throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, including design reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting.
- Design for scalability, resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity, high availability, and resilient cloud and infrastructure designs.
- Participate in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to review and approve solution designs.
- Lead solution‑level designs integrating hybrid and multi‑cloud environments (primarily GCP).
- Implement cloud‑native architectures leveraging microservices, containers (Kubernetes, Docker), and serverless models.
- Actively troubleshoot infrastructure bottlenecks, optimize system performance through monitoring, automation, and architecture improvements.
- Design application interfaces, APIs, and integration patterns using API gateways, message brokers, and event‑driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
- Support master data management, metadata management, and data governance requirements.
- Implement rate limiting, load balancing, caching, and asynchronous processing for optimized API performance.
- Lead modernization of monolithic applications into cloud‑native microservices with API‑first design.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization at the solution level.
- Ensure security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance with PCI‑DSS and SOC
2. - Promote reusable components, standard integration patterns, and automation.
- Monitor emerging technologies and assess their impact on business capabilities.
- Manage enterprise‑wide IT portfolio rationalization, technology roadmaps, and technical debt priorities.
- Implement Fin Ops principles for cloud cost management and optimization.
- Negotiate vendor contracts to secure cost‑effective solutions.
- 10–15 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud‑based solutions in hybrid and multi‑cloud environments, primarily GCP.
- Extensive knowledge of microservices, API management, and modern integration patterns.
- Strong background in data governance, master data management, and metadata management.
- Demonstrated experience with security frameworks, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance (PCI‑DSS, SOC2).
- Hands‑on experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines in GCP.
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing cloud infrastructure with observability tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Retail industry knowledge, including store operations, merchandising, and omnichannel commerce.
- Auto Parts industry knowledge such as aftermarket supply chains, inventory management, and distribution networks.
- Experience with international, multi‑lingual product catalog solutions and localization strategies.
- Experience with retail POS solutions and commerce CMS platforms.
- Experience with warehouse automation and material handling solutions.
