Position details
  • Temporary Position: Home Meal Delivery Driver and Elder Chore Support Services
  • Reports to: OAP Manager, or designee
  • Location: Social Services Department, Plummer, Idaho
  • Wage: $17 per hour
  • Duration: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026, or until funds are expended, whichever comes first.
Position Summary

Under the supervision of the OAP Manager, the Home Delivery Meal Driver (“driver”) is responsible for picking up meals from the Senwinchen Senior Meal Site in Plummer, Idaho, and delivering them to the approved participants residing within the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Reservation. The driver plays a vital role in supporting the well‑being of elders and individuals with disabilities by providing safe, courteous, and consistent service.

In addition, this position is also responsible for providing limited in‑home chore service for elders and vulnerable adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Meal Delivery and Client Interaction
  • Deliver meals to assigned participants Monday through Thursday in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
  • Daily and on Fridays, provide elder in‑home chore support services or local transportation by participant request with prior approval from the OAP Manager.
  • Transport meals in temperature‑controlled food containers designed to maintain a safe temperature following established food guidelines.
  • Follow a pre‑determined delivery schedule.
  • Conduct a basic wellness observation during each delivery and document any noticeable concerns or changes to the OAP Manager.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns regarding participants to the supervisor.
  • Communicate with participants regarding upcoming events, travel opportunities, and meetings.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while being fair and courteous to staff and program participants.
  • Support individuals who are disabled, elderly, or chronically ill under the OAP program standards.
Documentation and Communication
  • Complete a daily tally sheet, including the date, number of meals prepared at pickup, number of meals delivered, and notes on undelivered meals (e.g., participant not home, denied meal, hospitalization).
  • Document in client file any chore service performed in elder’s home.
  • Immediately report instances when a previously delivered meal appears untouched.

    Follow department procedures for responding to emergencies, including contacting management or emergency medical assistance when necessary, and waiting for help to arrive.
  • Maintain a travel log and vehicle maintenance record for all program travel and activities.
  • Submit daily documentation and reports to the OAP Manager.
  • Complete clear and concise incident/accident reports as needed.
  • Effectively respond to emergencies on and near the vehicle.
Vehicle Operation & Maintenance
  • Operate the assigned vehicle by following all traffic laws.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and sanitary.
  • Regulate heating and cooling for passenger comfort.
  • Refuel the vehicle as needed and report scheduled maintenance requirements in advance to the OAP Manager.
  • Seatbelt use is mandatory in all tribally owned or leased vehicles.
  • Practice defensive driving techniques and maintain communication during transport.
  • Safely operate the vehicle under both normal and adverse conditions.
  • Clean up vehicles used after completion of daily assignment or when determined necessary.
Teamwork & Training
  • Train new personnel on vehicle operation, program services, including in‑home chore services and procedures when requested.
  • Performs all duties with a strong emphasis on high‑quality customer service and an empathetic attitude for elders and individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors and other employees, and to deal with participants and the public professionally and courteously, some of whom may be irate or unreasonable.
