Location: Fort Hall

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes are located on the Fort Hall Reservation in Southeast Idaho, which includes five districts:
Fort Hall, Lincoln Creek, Ross Fork, Gibson, and Bannock Creek. Established in 1867 under an executive order and affirmed by the Fort Bridger Treaty in 1868, the Reservation serves as the permanent home of the Shoshone and Bannock people. Governed by the Fort Hall Business Council, which includes seven elected members, the Tribes operate under a constitution approved in 1936.

The Council oversees land and resource development, as well as all matters of self-governance.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role in Fort Hall,  Tribal Office of Emergency Management Program Manager is responsible for coordinating emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. Daily tasks include developing and implementing emergency management plans, collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies, conducting staff training, organizing community outreach programs, and managing operations during emergencies. The role requires the ability to assess risks, allocate resources, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Qualifications
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with tribal leaders, community members, and external agencies.
  • Proficiency in Administrative Assistance and Office Administration tasks, such as managing schedules, organizing documentation, and coordinating logistical efforts.
  • Basic Accounting knowledge to manage budgets and financial resources effectively.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Experience in emergency management, crisis response, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a relevant field is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of tribal governance and the unique needs of indigenous populations is an asset.
