Job Overview

The CPRG Coordinator is responsible for successfully managing multi‑million‑dollar projects under the EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG). This five‑year initiative focuses on implementing ambitious climate resilience measures within tight deadlines. The Coordinator will lead strategic planning, budget management, grant administration, performance monitoring, and staff supervision. Core responsibilities include ensuring compliance with tribal, federal, and grant‑specific regulations while achieving objectives tied to climate resilience, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas mitigation.

Key project components include energy audits, solar installations, wood stove replacements, climate‑ready housing upgrades, battery storage deployment, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure development, afforestation initiatives, and sustainable fleet transformation. The ideal candidate will be a results‑driven leader with strong organizational skills, the ability to build collaborative partnerships, and a proven track record in managing large‑scale projects.

Duties and Responsibilities Common Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Tribal policies and procedures, including the Human Resource Manual and Finance Manual.
  • Coordinate effectively with tribal staff, external stakeholders, and project partners.
  • Maintain accurate project logs, schedules, and records.
  • Travel to project sites, including remote locations, and attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals.
Project‑Specific Duties
  • Manage complex project budgets within aggressive timelines.
  • Develop and oversee contracts, project deliverables, and proposals.
  • Prepare and manage proposals, RFPs, contracts, reports, and evaluations to track milestones and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Ensure successful project execution through intra‑departmental, intertribal, and interagency collaboration.
  • Supervise and train field staff and project personnel, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with key partners such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Energy (DOE), Nez Perce Tribal Housing Authority (NPTHA), and Nimiipuu Energy to ensure efficient project task completion and compliance.
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting in accordance with the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) and grant terms and conditions.
  • Conduct community engagement initiatives, including outreach and educational programs to raise awareness of climate resilience measures.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and implement performance adjustments to optimize results.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy Technology, Urban and Regional Planning, Climate Science, Environmental Policy, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Alternatively, demonstrated transferable experience in managing complex projects, quality assurance, and reporting may be considered.
  • Five years of professional‑level experience managing large‑scale projects and budgets (three years with a Master’s degree).
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience, including leading and training staff.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong experience managing large‑scale projects, including budget planning, grant administration, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, databases, and project tracking tools.
  • Understanding regulatory compliance, including Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and federal grant terms and conditions.
  • Effective collaboration skills across departments, agencies, and organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet aggressive project timelines.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed, including remote areas.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate project demands and deadlines.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to be insured under the Tribe’s policy.
