Summary

The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the overall management of the bid process for a project. The role is responsible for understanding the deliverables, developing a work plan, and identifying resources required, while coordinating with internal teams to ensure compliance with the Request for Proposals (RFP).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction.
  • Experience leading bids and trade coordination.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction management, including safety, quality, constructability and sustainability standards.
  • Leadership level communication and organization skills.
Technical Job Knowledge
  • Leads bid / GMP assembly with minimal guidance; manages all bid day activities including compiling all deliverables and submitting responses.
  • Prepares detailed estimates at all phases of design; proficient in divisions 3 – 16 (including division 2 for Base Building).
  • Manages all bid day activities including compiling all deliverables and submitting responses.
  • Leads and coordinates scope writing and qualification development; manages and coordinates divisions 2, 15, 16.
  • Leads constructability reviews; leads the development of specific systems analyses and creation of Value Engineering and Alternates lists / logs.
  • Assists with strategy development for GMP’s and competitive bids.
  • Participates in project meetings and client presentations; attends pre-bid meetings and leads trade partner walk-throughs; leads bid presentations.
  • Owns responsibility for overall trade partners / supplier coverage and effective communication and management; identifies and aligns the most qualified trade partners for the market sector and scope.
  • Manages the overall document distribution process (RFI’s, Addenda, etc.).
  • Counsels, educates and coaches staff to help them develop necessary job skills.
  • Builds relationships with trade partners / suppliers, clients and design teams.
