Kiln Operator - Day Shift; Laclede

Position: Kiln Operator - Day Shift (Laclede)
Location: Laclede

Schedule is M-F 5:00am - 2:30pm, must have flexibility to cover all shifts for vacations

Starting pay is $26.10/hr

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.

• Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.

• Operate and oversee the functioning of kilns to ensure that temperature and drying schedules are met.

• Monitor kiln schedules to ensure that materials are processed correctly.

• Complete regular moisture readings to ensure they meet moisture targets.

• Assist with the performance of maintenance and troubleshooting of kiln equipment, ensuring all systems are working efficiently.

• Maintain detailed records of kiln temperatures, times, and other pertinent data. Report issues or anomalies to supervisors.

• Safety Compliance:
  Follow safety guidelines to minimize risks related to high temperatures and hazardous materials.

• Coordinate with Production Teams:
  Work closely with other departments such as production, maintenance, and quality control to meet production targets and resolve issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification:
  Forklift certification or the ability to acquire certification.

• Attention to Detail:
  Ability to monitor and adjust processes to ensure quality and efficiency.

• Safety Awareness:
  Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for working with high-temperature machinery.

• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid driver's license.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Understanding of kiln operation, temperature control, and materials processing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Production

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

• Lift above waist height - frequent depending on machine center

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
