Position:Ammonia Refrigeration A or B Operator – Afternoon Shift
We are seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration A or B Operator for the afternoon shift rigeration Operators with a valid Millwright 433A or Industrial Electrician 442A certification will be given preference for this position.
Afternoon shift: 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required, including weekend rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate the building systems' operation, including heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning.
- Operate and monitor an industrial ammonia refrigeration system.
- Understand and comply with all standard operating procedures and regulated/legislated compliance standards for operating and maintaining an industrial ammonia refrigeration system.
- Work with outside contractors and/or vendors, including fire department and pressure vessel inspectors.
- Perform facility inspections regularly.
- Complete daily refrigeration system readings and daily logbook records.
- Install, maintain, and repair all plant services‑related equipment.
- Provide support to production in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
- Comply with all safety regulations and food safety standards (CFIA, TSSA, GMP, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS, etc.).
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration activities; maintain an updated record of the preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve maintenance operations.
- Actively promote health and safety in the workplace.
- Complete maintenance reports and logs as required.
- Ensure all plant services equipment is serviced as per OEM recommendations.
- Monitor and adjust equipment to lower utility costs.
- Enforce established safety, health, contamination and housekeeping policies and procedures to minimize staff injuries, lost production time, damage, and contamination of products.
- Track building and equipment repairs.
- Ensure that the work area is always clean and free of hazards.
- Work safely in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor or manager.
- Valid Refrigeration A or B Operator Certificate with an Ontario Millwright or Industrial Electrician License.
- Basic knowledge of all machine shop practices (lathe & milling machines), including basic welding skills.
- 2–5 years of industrial mechanical or electrical experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Service, clean, and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all plant services‑related equipment, such as spiral ovens, spiral freezers, air compressors, water softeners, HVAC systems, air makeup units, exhaust fans, water‑cooled condensers, heat exchangers, thermal fluid boilers, packaged steam boilers, etc.
- Continuously improve equipment function via design improvements.
- Problem‑solving skills and good communication skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate health & safety and environmental regulations.
- Adherence to Food Safety Protocols.
$47.49 /hr, plus $1.00 /hr premium for working the afternoon shift.
