Reporting to the Manager of Creative Services, the Junior Creative Associate is a dual-discipline, entry-level role within the Creative Services team. Working in collaboration with Marketing, Communications, and Creative Services staff, the Junior Creative Associate will conceptualize, design, write, and produce customer-facing and internal print and digital materials for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (external customers), the Communications Department, and other DART Departments (internal clients).

This role is designed for an emerging creative who brings both visual design ability and strong writing skills, and is eager to develop across both disciplines in a professional, fast‑paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in writing and editing copies for marketing materials including advertisements, social media, email campaigns, website content, brochures, and customer‑facing communications, producing content that is accurate, on‑brand, and appropriate for target audiences.
  • Continually collaborate with the internal team throughout the brainstorm, concept, design, and review processes to ensure seamless execution of typography, composition, and messaging across all deliverables.
  • Proofs and edit designed and written materials for consistency in typography, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and brand alignment before submission.
  • Ensure brand consistency — in both visual and verbal identity — throughout all projects by maintaining accuracy and attention to detail across a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare and present design and copy concepts to Creative Services leadership and the Marketing Services team.
  • Respond quickly to creative challenges and feedback, and proactively anticipate needs for different teams and projects.
  • Prioritize and time‑manage multiple projects efficiently to ensure all work is delivered on schedule and any challenges are addressed ahead of time.
  • Demonstrate good file management by adhering to DART storage and archival guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of design, copywriting, and industry trends as well as emerging tools in the marketing and creative environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Advertising, Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in graphic design, copywriting, content creation, or a hybrid creative role; strong academic portfolio considered.
  • Proficiency in MAC software applications to include Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or related software.
  • Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen in order to operate DART non‑revenue vehicles.
  • Knowledge of fonts and typography, color calibration, the CMYK printing process, and preparing digital files for print vendors, promotional merchandise, and digital and mobile devices.
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly across a variety of communication settings and styles; can produce copy that is on‑brand and has the desired effect on target audiences.
  • Ability to pick up on technical and creative concepts quickly; learns new skills, software, and industry knowledge with initiative and applies them effectively.
