Is God calling you into camp ministry?

PMBC is seeking a Camp Ministry Director who is passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with Christ while leading and strengthening an established ministry with lasting impact.

This role is far more than administration or facility oversight. We are looking for someone who is called to lead with vision, develop people, build systems, encourage spiritual growth, and help expand the reach and effectiveness of the ministry for future generations.

The right candidate will be spiritually grounded, entrepreneurial, organized, and energized by the opportunity to help a ministry grow.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure safe, high quality, daily program oversight of the camp operation to carry out the camp mission and fit within the PMBC core values and culture.
  • Develop job descriptions, camp policies, procedures, and budget.
  • Oversee public relations and marketing, in pursuit of maintaining good relationships with campers, staff, parents, volunteers, donors, pastors, churches and retreat groups.
  • Recruit, organize, train, develop, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Cast a vision and implement meaningful programming for the summer camp.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the Camp’s digital presence, ensuring program schedules are communicated well in advance.
  • Provide stewardship over the camp buildings, property, and equipment.
  • Maintain discipline and policy adherence among staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Oversee all aspects of camp so as to preemptively avert crises and when necessary coordinate improvement of the camp property and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Personal faith in Jesus with the ability to grow in knowledge of the Discipline of Primitive Methodists in the USA.
  • Ability to lead, counsel, motivate, encourage and supervise staff.
  • Ability to grow in knowledge of the PMBC community (Staff, volunteers, supporters) and use this knowledge to help make connections for recruiting and fundraising.
  • Ability to cast vision, develop people, and help a ministry grow.
  • Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs.
  • Ability to practice good crisis assessment, management and mitigation of risk.
  • Knowledge, passion, and affirmation of PMBC’s mission, purpose, and core value.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to camping situations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Requirements,

Education and Experience
  • A clear and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Passion for leadership in Christian camping ministry.
  • A self-starter who is motivated, adaptable, and forward-thinking.
  • Values discipleship, teamwork, stewardship, and servant leadership.
  • High school diploma or GED, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prefer 5 years of experience in camp administration or operations. Related fields considered as well (company operations; church operations).
  • Candidates embodying PMBC core values will be considered even if education or experience levels are not met. Adjustments to pay range may be made to compensate.

Leadership experience in ministry, camps, church leadership, operations, business, or related fields is valuable, but we are ultimately looking for someone who aligns strongly with the mission, values, and direction of PMBC.

This is an opportunity to help shape a ministry that impacts campers, families, churches, and future generations through the Gospel.

If you believe camp ministry changes lives, we encourage you to apply and start the conversation.
