Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care to obstetric patients including laboring mothers, postpartum recovery, and newborns; assist with labor and delivery including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and patient education.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, recognizing and responding to complications in a timely manner.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
- When the OB unit census is low, provide nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients including medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, post-operative recovery, and acute care interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient-centered care across units.
- Document patient assessments, adjust care plans accordingly, delegate tasks to nursing assistants and support staff, and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in obstetric nursing, including maternal/fetal assessment, newborn assessment, and postpartum care.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Idaho or an approved compact state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required upon hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required upon hire or within one year of placement.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience working in a Med/Surg unit or demonstrated ability to float between OB and Med/Surg patient populations.
- Experience orienting or mentoring new nursing staff.
- Work in a supportive, patient-centered environment where your clinical expertise in obstetrics makes a meaningful impact on mothers, newborns, and families.
- Gain diverse clinical experience by contributing to both OB and Med/Surg patient care within a collaborative healthcare team.
