Job SummaryProvide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for residents in the relevant clinical setting.
Practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and utilize appropriate age‑ and population‑specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as per care plan.
Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of residents' status and provide the care needed.
Recognize problems, recommend solutions and respond effectively to assist in emergent situations.
Ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents.
Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public.
Work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician.
Apply resident education principles to develop a self‑care program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as an LPN.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.
- Currently hold an unencumbered LPN license with the state nursing board and/or possess multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Obtain and subsequently maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
