Job SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform testing to evaluate resident status and provide necessary care.
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to resident assessments and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, health‑care providers, and the public.
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Counsel residents, family members, and residents’ advocates on prevention and treatment plans.
- Develop self‑care programs based on resident education principles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a licensed practical nurse.
- Associate degree in practical nursing preferred.
- Meet state licensing requirements and hold an unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing board; multi‑state licensure privileges accepted.
- Have completed a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota, possess a graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training of the department and facility.
