Position: Assistant Ranger (Part Time)
Location: Pocono

Minsi Trails Council, Scouting America, is seeking a dependable, hands‑on Assistant Ranger to support the maintenance and operations of Camp Minsi
, one of the region’s premier outdoor Scouting facilities. This part‑time position helps ensure the camp remains safe, clean, and welcoming for Scouts, volunteers, and community groups throughout the year.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, has basic maintenance skills, and wants to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general facility maintenance (cabins, shelters, program areas, utilities).
  • Handle groundskeeping tasks: mowing, trimming, trail upkeep, debris removal, and snow removal.
  • Assist with weekend and seasonal operations (site prep, check‑ins, post-event cleanup).
  • Maintain camp tools, equipment, and vehicles under the direction of the Camp Ranger.
  • Identify and report safety hazards; uphold Scouting and council safety standards.
  • Provide friendly customer service to units, volunteers, and visitor groups.

Support improvement and construction projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor conditions year‑round
  • Basic mechanical or hand‑tool experience
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Once hired, become a registered member of Scouting America and complete the PA Act 15 Clearances

Preferred

  • Experience in any of the following:
    • Carpentry
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Landscaping
    • Small engine repair
    • Facility or property maintenance
  • Familiarity with Scouting programs (not required)
  • Work in a beautiful outdoor environment
  • Opportunities to learn new trades and maintenance skills
  • Supportive team atmosphere with a mission‑focused organization
  • Meaningful impact on local youth and Scouting programs
