Description

The Chef de Cuisine leads the culinary vision and daily operations of the restaurant kitchen. This position is responsible for mentoring the kitchen team, crafting inspired menus, and ensuring exceptional food quality and presentation. The Chef de Cuisine works closely with the Sous Chef and other kitchen staff to deliver creative, seasonal cuisine that exceeds guest expectations. This hands‑on leader is passionate about food, focused on consistency, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead kitchen operations and oversee all culinary staff, including training, scheduling, and performance support

Develop seasonal menus and daily specials based on fresh, local ingredients and evolving guest preferences

Prepare specialty dishes and ensure all food meets Sun Valley Resort’s standards for quality and consistency

Monitor food inventory and place orders to maintain appropriate stock levels

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen that meets or exceeds food safety regulations

Inspire creativity and excellence across the kitchen team by coaching, mentoring, and modeling best practices

Stay current with industry trends, presentation techniques, and culinary innovation

Actively participate in busy service periods while maintaining composure and accuracy

Collaborate with the administrative and front-of-house teams to align kitchen operations with overall guest experience

Support with cleaning and prep tasks as needed, especially during peak business times

Qualifications

Formal training in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience

Proven leadership in a high-volume or fine-dining kitchen environment

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to motivate and develop a cohesive kitchen team

Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching

Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Available to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed
