Summary of Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for students and staff.
- Work 7:00 am–3:30 pm to implement the food service program.
- Create monthly menus following USDA nutrition guidelines and culturally relevant for Native American students.
- Order, receive, organize, and store food safely.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and machinery.
- Supervise assistant cook in day‑to‑day duties.
- Collect daily lunch counts for food preparation and monthly reporting.
- Inventory food and maintain daily logs.
- Complete required paperwork and reports, including USDA reimbursements and Summer Food Program submissions.
- Submit monthly meal calendars to the Tribal School Board and parents.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate highest professional standards and promote a positive image of the Tribe.
- Pass extensive background check according to §25 CFR
12 Part 32, §25 CFR
63 Part 17, and Public Law 101‑647. - No misdemeanor/felony offenses related to controlled substances or drugs in last 10 years.
- Support the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s vision, mission, and core values.
- Comply with all health policies, including annual flu shot.
- Receive tuberculosis test and other required health tests and vaccinations.
- Trained in HACCP or willing to be trained.
- Certified or working toward SNA (formerly ASFSA) certification.
- Attend state training provided by CNP State Agency.
- Familiar with Nutri‑Kids Program.
- Computer skills for Child Nutrition Program 2000.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Vocational certification in food service and at least two years experience as a supervisor.
- Knowledge of grant writing, record keeping, and USDA reporting requirements.
- Possess Food Handler’s/Service Card.
- Acceptable to operate and train others to use food service equipment within OSHA regulations.
- Organize, plan, schedule, file, collect, and maintain data; complete reports; submit using computer and meet deadlines.
- Apply nutritional standards set by USDA.
- Cooperate well with coworkers.
- Perform duties consistently and proficiently.
- In good health to meet physical demands or receive reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work with behaviorally challenging students.
- Salary dependent on experience.
