Description SUMMARY

Position selling outdoor recreational items including but not limited to: outdoor clothing (ski and snowboard), accessories (goggles, bear spray), skis, snowboards and bikes to the public. Obtaining payment for goods sold. Working cash register and balancing daily receipts.

A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providing superior service to all customers --the general public and Grand Targhee employees, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Greeting customers and determining their needs.
  • Checks in all new merchandise, stocks shelves, arranges windows and other displays throughout the store.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of store inventory.
  • Observes scheduled work times.
  • Conducts physical inventories when needed.
  • Handles problem customers in a respectful manner.
  • Cross trains to sell in other retail outlets.
  • Directing customers to the appropriate merchandise, providing them with adequate information (current trends, technical details, fabric characteristics, etc.) to make a satisfactory purchase.
  • Accepting payment efficiently, with courtesy and diplomacy, entering the appropriate form of payment in the cash register, counting change properly, and verifying any credit card transactions.
  • Balancing the cash register by counting the cash drawer at both the beginning and the end of the work shift following current policies and procedures.
  • Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may be required.

    • Protect the safety of self , workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
    • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
    • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
    • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
    • Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
    • Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK SCHEDULE

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledgeable and skillful at running a cash register
  • Previous cash handling experience and guest service required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
