The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County. In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day. Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

We are looking for Summer Students to join our Thompson Creek Mine. We are seeking motivated and dependable students with a strong interest in the mining industry to join our 10‑week long Summer Student Program. This program is designed to provide hands‑on, real‑world experience across a variety of departments within our operation. Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to daily operations, safety practices, and industry‑specific skills.

Assignments may include support in areas such as operations and maintenance, depending on business needs.

Your responsibilities will include the following, but are not limited to:

• Participate and contribute to safety meetings.
• Be open minded and willing to learn all aspects/practices of the mine.
• Assist in completion of preventative site maintenance activities.
• Assist in performing routine/non‑routine maintenance and downtime repairs.
• Support the mine with various tasks as assigned.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the mine.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

To qualify, the following experience and skills are required:

• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, or older, by the beginning of the summer work term.
• Full‑time enrollment in post secondary education program in the fall (verification required prior to hire).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass Thompson Creek Mine pre‑employment physical, which includes drug and alcohol testing.
• Strong computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work tasks under various weather conditions.
• Safety minded and willingness to adhere to safe work practices.
• Team player, leadership and good interpersonal skills required.
