Mechanic Apprentice

About The Role

American Stone is hiring a full-time Mechanic Apprentice to assist with maintaining and repairing quarry equipment and fleet vehicles.

Pay: $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience.

This position is ideal for someone dependable, hardworking, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn diesel and heavy equipment maintenance in a hands‑on quarry environment.

You will work alongside experienced mechanics performing inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment and diesel systems while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

You can bring your own tools or use company‑provided tools. Personality, attitude, and dependability are just as important as experience.

• Assist with inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
• Assist with diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment
• Help maintain hydraulic systems, brakes, suspension, and transmissions
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Assist mechanics with troubleshooting mechanical issues in the field
• Learn proper safety procedures and equipment maintenance practices

• Ability to perform physical work and lift heavy objects

• Experience with tools, welding, automotive work, or heavy equipment
• Experience working outdoors or in physically demanding environments
• Technical training or certification is a plus
• Spanish is a plus

You will work daylight hours. You might work Saturdays. You have Sundays off.
