Overview
The Mine Electrician will perform electrical repairs, installations, inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and equipment throughout the Lucky Friday, both on the surface and underground.
Responsibilities- Perform electrical repairs to provide continuous operation of machinery and equipment.
- Install and commission high voltage underground/surface transformers, splices, box's, switches.
- Trouble shoot, diagnose problems, and repair instrument & electric equipment underground, in the Concentrator, and on the surface.
- Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
- Work with electrical schematics.
- Order materials.
- Completes required maintenance reports and logs.
- Tests all equipment repairs as applicable.
- Must be able to access equipment information using electronic devices (i.e. laptop computer, tablet).
- Use of measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
- Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations; conduct activities in an environmentally responsible manner, and minimise impacts.
- Follow and understand MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules, SOP and work area instructions; participate in safety and environmental activities; lead by example, adhering to rules and regulations established by the Mine Operations department.
- Work and communicate with other members of the work team.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, especially regarding Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental.
- Participate in risk assessment activities as required.
- Meet criteria established in the Maintenance Progression System.

- Education and/or Experience – High School graduate or equivalent.
- Licensing – Licensed as Journeyman Electrician in Idaho or a reciprocal state, or ability to pass the Journeyman Electrical Licensing test in Idaho.
- Previous Experience In a Mine Setting – Preferred.
- Experience with high/med/low voltage power distribution systems – Preferred.
- Knowledge of power monitoring equipment and installations – Preferred.
- Language Skills – Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- ATF possessors clearance required
. - MSHA Training – Must complete MSHA 40‑hour training or provide 5000‑23 documentation of completed training.
- Physical and drug screening – Must pass physical, drug screen, and essential functions capacity test.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment includes wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, underground work locations, working from heights, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. This position may require work on nights, weekends, and rotating shifts.
