Description

Join the Sun Valley Resort Dollar Mountain Snow making team and help create exceptional skiing and riding conditions for our guests. Snowmakers operate and maintain snow making equipment to produce high-quality snow throughout the winter season. This physically demanding, team-oriented position requires working safely in all weather conditions and on rotating shifts to support snow making operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor snow making equipment through routine field inspections and manual adjustments.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic operation of the pumphouse and related snow making infrastructure.
  • Safely operate snowmobiles, snowcats, skis, or snowboards to access snow making equipment across the mountain.
  • Follow established snow making plans and operating procedures to achieve production goals safely and efficiently.
  • Perform snow removal using manual tools, snowblowers, or plows as needed.
  • Communicate equipment issues and operational concerns promptly to supervisors and teammates.
  • Work collaboratively with Snow making teammates and other Mountain Operations departments to support safe and efficient resort operations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all Resort safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working outdoors and willingness to work in all winter weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

    Current U.S. Driver's License required.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all snow making and Mountain Operations safety procedures.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
  • Skiing or snowboarding ability is beneficial but not required.
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
