QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability as well as three-year motor vehicle report required. Prior experience working with homelessness, substance use, or mental health challenges, trauma in adults and teens preferred. Prior experience working in a tribal setting preferred. To be eligible for hire, applicants must successfully complete:
- Idaho Department of Health and Welfare background check
- Standard Background Check
- Indian Health Service (HIS) required background, including FBI fingerprinting
- Drug Screening:
Pre-employment and random testing
Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills. Ability to conduct hourly resident checks during overnight shifts. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must have received or be willing to receive COVID
19 vaccination per current hiring policies.
ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.
- Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.
- Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients, and public.
- Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and data entry.
- Able to lift to 25 lbs.
- Standing 25% of the day.
- Walking 25% of the day.
- Pushing up to 50 lbs.
- Pulling up to 50 lbs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor guest behavior and enforce shelter rules to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Conduct regular patrols of sleeping areas, restrooms, and facility perimeter,
- Assist guests with overnight needs, including distributing bedding, food, and hygiene items.
- Ensure all guests vacate the shelter by designated morning hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of shelter spaces.
- Ensure soup is available for guests each evening and coffee each morning.
- Complete shift reports, incident documentation, and guest logs.
- Basic housekeeping, sanitation, laundry (bedding, towels/etc.)
- Set up, breakdown and sanitize sleeping areas and common spaces.
- Secure guest belongings and manage access to the shelter.
- Communicate guest needs, concerns, and incidents to supervisor promptly.
- If applicable, refer to Marimn Behavioral Health for Case Management, Counseling and or Wellbriety services.
- Keep and track inventory of warming shelter supplies.
- Completes intake, assessments and processing of teens 12-17 at the shelter to support the coordinator.
- Promote a culture of healing, wellness, sobriety and safety for at risk youth.
- Support adequate staffing ratios are in place during all operational hours.
- Be an example and support youth in obtaining their education and life skills.
- Participate in meal preparation, laundry, cleaning and transportation.
- Provide daily meals as outlined by the Manager
- Participate in cultural activities and encourage youth participation.
- Acts as a strong proponent for Teen Shelter.
- Maintains the strictest levels of confidentiality.
- Performs under the ethical and professional guidelines of his/her profession.
- Participate with Tribal Departments to provide cultural and educational activities for youth. xrlwcon Coordinate regular recreational and cultural activities.
