Summary of Position
Has the responsibility for delivering propane to customers in the local area. This position requires manual labor to successfully perform some of the essential duties of the job. Performs sales-like activity including: calling on customers during deliveries, distributing merchandising and marketing literature, gathering sales leads, and turning in prospects. Accepts payments and may assist in installation and removal of tanks. This position will also provide assistance to the Propane Technician in various service calls.
They may be called on to assist in the training of inexperienced Delivery Representative. They help educate the customers in the use of propane.
- Loads and delivers LP gas via bobtail truck to customers, both residential and commercial.
- Prepares related invoices and reports (via computer) covering gas deliveries.
- Accepts payments from customers and prepares receipts. When requested, solicits payment of delinquent accounts.
- Operates company vehicle in a safe and efficient manner to and from customer locations.
- Inspects company vehicle daily and reports any problems according to established company policy and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Maintains good customer relations by providing courteous, efficient service to customers.
- Promotes use of LP gas or electricity by suggesting additional uses to customers and relating the quality, service, and dependability of company products.
- Will be required to pull one to one and one-half inch hose and fittings from company vehicle to customer tank (maximum 150 feet) 20 to 30 times per day, by hand. Shovel snow away from tanks and put chains on tires to complete some deliveries.
- Assists propane technicians in the installation of appliance, lines and tanks as needed.
- Responds to emergency calls from propane customers.
- Rotational on call duty is required.
- Some overtime should be expected.
- Ability to attend meetings and/or training seminars when requested.
- Conducts oneself in such a manner as to contribute a better understanding of the company when in contact with members or the general public, as well as maintain a harmonious relationship with all Fall River personnel.
- Uses all required safety equipment and follows all applicable safety regulations, company policies and procedures. Reports and takes appropriate measures to address any unsafe conditions. Reports all accidents and damage to management in a timely manner.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent education
Prefer some related experience and/or training.
Sit, stand, walk, grasp, reach outward and overhead, kneel, squat and bend. Lift/carry 50 – 75 lbs. Push/pull 25 - 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made where possible.
Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee and public safety. Learn and follow safety regulations and policies.
DOT Qualified Driver. Must possess at least a class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the following endorsements:
