Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Steven Douglas is partnered with a Lemont based sales and rentals organization to identify a Controller! This role will report directly to the newly appointed CFO and oversee the accounting functions.

Responsibilities for this position:

• Financial Reporting:
  Prepare and ensure accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to GAAP principles.
• Management:
  Manage processes and staff to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including reconciliations and financial analysis
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
  Assist with the annual budget process and periodic updates to budget to provide forecasts.
• Expense Analysis:
  Conduct regular analysis of expense variances, providing insights to management for cost control and decision-making.
• Process Improvement:
  Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Tax Compliance:
  Assist in preparing documentation for tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Audit Support:
  Lead the annual audit process, work with external auditors and provide necessary financial documentation and support.

Qualifications and skills:

• Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, a combination of public and related industry is ideal. Public accounting experience is preferential.
• Self-starter with strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead and train a team
• Demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting operational cycles, including ownership of closing process
• Demonstrated strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP with ability to work independently
• High level of organization, accuracy and ability to manage to deadlines
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication skills, both writing and verbal
