Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Category Manager with strong expertise in corrugated packaging to lead domestic sourcing strategies across multiple U.S. regions. This role plays a critical part in driving cost optimization, ensuring supplier performance, and managing a broad portfolio of packaging categories. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, process-driven, and comfortable leading teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with a high level of independence and accountability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute strategic sourcing initiatives across all domestic packaging categories in partnership with Sourcing Specialists
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding partners accountable to defined performance and service expectations
- Manage and mentor a team of sourcing professionals, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement
- Establish and deliver annual cost-savings targets aligned with procurement leadership
- Drive procurement process enhancements through analysis of spend data, supply market conditions, category insights, and business needs
- Guide sourcing strategy development, RFP execution, and contract negotiations
- Monitor market trends and indices to inform purchasing and sourcing decisions
- Maintain accountability for accurate item setup, costing, supplier assignment, minimum order quantities, and related data across 40,000+ item configurations
Skills and Abilities
- Established network and strong relationships within the corrugated packaging supplier market
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of distribution, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain processes
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Work Experience:
- 8–10 years of sourcing experience
- 2–3 years of direct people management preferred
- Packaging industry experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, or a related field preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and 8–10 years of relevant industry experience will be considered
