Facilities Operations Coordinator
Governors State University is seeking to hire a Facilities Operations Coordinator in the Facilities Development & Management department to be responsible for a variety of essential tasks related to the effective management, operation, and safety of the university. The primary purpose of this position is to develop, administer, and manage programs procedures, and protocols to ensure a healthy and safe work environment, as well as to comply with the latest regulations law codes and standards.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President (AVP), this position will address the needs of Facilities and Development Management (FDM) by researching, documenting, and recommending solutions to routine and special situations as they arise. The duties of this role require extensive knowledge of the university's organization, programs, policies, and procedures.
Salary Range: $50,190.30 - $70,000.00. This is a full-time, on-campus position from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Essential Responsibilities25% Provide comprehensive administrative support to the AVP and the broader FDM staff. Assist with facility project coordination technical documentation. and operations follow-up tasks. Serve as an authoritative liaison providing clear safety information and assistance to all university levels. Research and recommend solutions for routine and special operations situations impacting FDM. Manage data entry report preparation. purchasing activities. and meeting coordination for facility safety.
Maintain and update relevant web content and electronic compliance records as it relates to facility safety. Remain current with industry standards. inst1tut1onal trends. and modern safety best practices. 25% Develop and maintain a budget for operational risk management. Manage inventory controls and process requisitions and invoices for incoming university goods and safety supplies. Authorize orders for safety equipment and essential facility operational supplies.
Evaluate maintenance reports and operational spending to maintain safe, functional and budget-compliant university facilities. 10% Enhance campus space logistics by auditing vacancies and managing hotel suite operations to maximize resources. Oversee office layout changes to ensure university compliance. 10% Conduct safety inspections. incident investigations. hazard assessments and compliance audits across campus. Ensure continuous adherence to OSHA EPA. NFPA. Illinois Department of Labor, and other applicable regulations.
Investigate identify. and evaluate occupational safety issues and recommend quick corrective actions. Review campus infrastructure projects for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Illinois Accessibility Code. Coordinate required inspections, testing, monitoring, and state reporting for underground storage tanks with facilities engineers. 10% Develop, maintain, and coordinate mandatory institutional safety training programs. Deliver specialized training modules, including lockout/tagout.
