KFVS/WSIL is hiring a Meteorologist to join the First Alert Weather team. The meteorologist delivers accurate, engaging forecasts across TV, digital, and social platforms and provides thorough coverage during severe weather.
Duties / Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver accurate daily forecasts as part of the KFVS/WSIL First Alert Weather meteorologist team for TV, digital, and social platforms.
- Provide clear, urgent, and reliable coverage during severe weather and other high‑impact weather events.
- Monitor weather models, radar, and data sources to track changing conditions and communicate updates quickly.
- Use graphics, storytelling, and live reporting to make weather information easy to understand.
- Create weather content for the station website, app, CTV platforms, and social channels.
- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field required.
- On‑air weather presentation experience preferred.
- Strong forecasting skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and engagingly.
- Experience with weather systems, radar technology, graphics platforms, and forecasting tools.
- Ability to work flexible hours (mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays) and extended coverage during severe weather.
