Music Director

Saint Malachy Parish Music Director Responsibilities

• Coordination of parish volunteers in music for various liturgies, including weekend Masses and special (including sacramental) liturgies
• Coordination of music for funerals and weddings
• Director of Celebration Choir
• Manage the copyright reporting requirements to reprint, livestream and record liturgical music
• Participation in ongoing education and support, such as the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM)
• Participation in liturgy committee

• Active recruitment of new musicians of all ages and organization of special choirs
• Music lessons for aspiring liturgical musicians
• Additional liturgical coordination
• Accompaniment for special events
• Planning of special musical events of an evangelical nature
• Devising strategies for increasing participation of the congregation in music during Mass
• Serves as a resource to Faith Formation staff and catechists in selecting music

• Professing, practicing and knowledgeable of the Catholic Faith, or otherwise supportive of Catholic beliefs and practices
• Commitment to personal growth in faith formation and living as a moral role model
• Experience, background and knowledge of liturgical celebrations & planning required
• Degree in music education or music performance or related field
• Capability to organize, plan and execute events
• Able to practice effective communication with various volunteers
• Proficiency with a keyboard instrument and singing
• Successful background check through State Police and Department of Children and Family Services
• Completion of Diocesan Safe Environment Training in collaboration with the business manager

Full time position with benefits

Salary: $35,000 - 40,000
