Location: Lake Bluff

Job Title

This is a part-time year round position averaging 10 hours per week. Available open shifts are from 4:00pm - 9:00pm during the weekday. Additional evening and weekend hours may also be available based on need. Pay will start at $16.00 and includes free fitness membership and facility usage discounts.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service; a positive attitude and willingness to take on new assignments while demonstrating outstanding organizational and communication skills; the ability to move quickly between tasks, work with minimal supervision and the ability to demonstrate initiative in assignments. This position is one of the first impressions our guests have of the organization and plays an important part in our success!

Essential

Duties
  • Greet guests as they come in and leave the facility, respond to inquiries and direct in-person and telephone callers to the proper parties
  • Process program, fitness memberships, group exercise, and personal training registrations that includes acceptance of payment for program costs
  • Answer phones, e-mails and all guest questions in a courteous, respectful manner
  • Maintain and approachable appearance and be friendly with members and guests
  • Follow all procedures related to the Guest Services
  • Schedule and coordinate facility bookings and contracts
  • Process membership applications and renewals and cancelations
  • Maintain and organize vending machine supplies
  • Distribute Park District mail daily
  • Use and maintain office equipment such as a fax machine, laminator, copier, and computer
  • Print membership cards
  • Coordinate copying/folding/distribution of program mailings
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications

High school graduate, one (1) two (2) years of administrative experience, some leadership experience preferred and must possess excellent customer service skills; friendly and outgoing; the first person to greet guests. Must be able to handle concerns, complaints and/or compliments in a professional and respectful manner and any combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
Should be able to use MS Office programs (Word, Excel, publisher, PowerPoint) or able to learn to use the computer software required in this position. Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work well with team members and guests Bilingual, English/Spanish a plus Capable of communicating and working effectively with the public and all levels of Park District staff Able to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations Ability to accept constructive criticism and or/supervision Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations Should possess enthusiasm and drive with a desire to accomplish goals and objectives Should be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently

Supervision

Under the direction of the Guest Services Manager, the individual must be self-motivated and capable of initiating and developing tasks on a regular basis. The individual will perform projects as assigned by the Manager. Guidance is provided through departmental policies, Park District operating practices and procedures, and other resources as applicable to the specific project assigned. Work is evaluated at least annually, with respect to problem-solving ability, customer service, research and analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills, and performance in accordance with this classification standard.

Physical

Demands

This is considered a sedentary position exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing or stair climbing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions which provides for protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from customers or fitness equipment. Equal Opportunity Employer
