Customer Service & Material Specialist

Kirchner Building Centers is seeking a Customer Service & Material Specialist to support contractors, builders, and homeowners with building materials and project needs. In this retail counter role, you'll answer questions, quote orders, and coordinate materials such as lumber, roofing, siding, windows, and doors. You'll help stage and track orders, support inventory and stocking, and ensure accurate tickets and paperwork. Working closely with our yard and delivery teams, you'll provide friendly, reliable service in a family-owned, community-focused environment with opportunities to grow into sales or operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist contractors, builders, and homeowners at the service counter and by phone
• Provide product information and guidance on lumber, hardware, windows, doors, roofing, siding, and related materials
• Prepare, process, and track customer orders, tickets, and returns accurately in the system
• Coordinate material pulls and staging for pickup or delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain organized inventory areas, restock shelves, and support basic inventory counts
• Work closely with yard, delivery, and sales teams to ensure smooth project support for customers
• Resolve basic customer issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate team members
• Maintain a clean, safe, and customer-friendly store environment
