Wexford Health has an exceptional opportunity for a part time Podiatrist to join our team of healthcare professionals at the Rushville County Jail in Rushville, IL.

Minimum Requirements
  • Medical Degree required
  • Current CPR certification required. CCHP certification preferred
  • Current Illinois Podiatry Medical License (DPM)
Position Summary

The Podiatrist examines and diagnoses foot ailments and deformities such as tumors or ulcers, fractures, skin or nail diseases and congenital or acquired deformities such as bunions, flat feet or hammertoe; analyzes laboratory test results and determines appropriate treatment; treats conditions of the feet such as corns, calluses, ingrown nails, bunions, heel spurs, foot ulcers, arch problems, cysts, bone disorders and abscesses, ankle and foot injuries and infection using medications and nail or callus removal;

evaluates need for special footwear; educates on prevention, treatment and care of foot diseases; consults with and refers patients to other health care practitioners when symptoms in the feet and legs indicate need for surgery or systemic disorders such as arthritis, diabetes, heart or kidney disease; prepares health record documentation and reports on health services; acts as a liaison between agency and community health providers;

may participate as a member of a multi‑disciplinary evaluation team.

Preferred Experience

3-5 years' experience in an institutional healthcare setting preferred. Correctional healthcare experience preferred.

Other Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of methods and principles of podiatric medicine; considerable knowledge of current practices of assessment and treatment of ailments, diseases or injuries of the foot and lower leg; knowledge of recent developments in the field of podiatry including treatment models and best practices.
  • Ability to function as a "team player", coordinating efforts with managers, peers and subordinates.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to contract and the Company's mission.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and ability to independently solve problems.
  • General math and analytical skills, and planning, administrative and organizational skills essential.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to competently manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Must be able to direct facility staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and completion of organizational projects.
Certifications
  • Current CPR certification required. CCHP certification preferred
Licensure
  • Current Illinois Podiatry Medical License (DPM)
